대전시가 지역 방산기업의 국제 경쟁력 강화를 위한 이색적인 만남을 주선했다. 7월 2일 유성구 도룡동 호텔ICC에서 열린 ‘대전 방산기업–외국군 장교 협력 발대식’이 그 주인공이다.

이 행사는 대전의 방산 기술력을 세계에 알리고, 국방대학교에 파견된 외국군 장교들과의 실질적 협력을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다. 장성 및 영관급 장교 12명과 대전 소재 방산기업 12개사가 1:1로 매칭되어 직접적인 교류를 시도하는 것은 이번이 처음이다.

기념식을 마친 후 참석자들은 대전의 방위산업 현장을 직접 둘러보는 시간을 가졌다. ㈜세이프텍리서치에서는 선박운항 시뮬레이터 등 첨단 훈련 시스템을 체험했고, 이어 대전테크노파크 로봇·방위산업센터를 방문해 3D프린팅, 산업용 X-ray 장비 등 최신 기술 인프라를 살펴보며 대전의 기술 역량에 대한 이해를 높였다.

손철웅 대전시 미래전략실장은 “이번 발대식은 단순한 교류를 넘어, 대전이 글로벌 방산 협력의 거점으로 성장할 수 있는 출발점”이라며, “국제적인 협력망을 확장하고, 민군 간의 실질적인 네트워크가 구축될 수 있도록 지속적인 노력을 기울이겠다”고 말했다.
