충남 논산시가 다가오는 6월 6일 제70회 현충일을 기념해 순국선열과 호국영령의 희생정신을 기리기 위한 ‘태극기 조기(弔旗) 달기 운동’을 펼친다고 2일 밝혔다.

이번 운동은 공공기관을 비롯해 학교, 군부대, 민간단체, 그리고 시민 모두가 참여할 수 있도록 적극 홍보되고 있다. 조기 게양 방법은 일반 태극기보다 깃봉에서 태극기 너비만큼 아래로 내려 달면 되며, 훼손되거나 젖은 태극기는 반드시 새 태극기로 교체해야 한다.

현충일 당일에는 전국의 관공서와 공공기관에서 오전 7시부터 자정까지 태극기를 조기로 게양하며, 가정과 민간기업·단체는 오전 7시부터 오후 6시까지 조기 게양에 동참한다. 한편, 현충일에는 축제 분위기를 조성하는 가로기와 차량기 게양은 자제해야 한다.
