충남 금산군이 새로운 문화 거점으로 조성 중인 ‘금산선유원-문화의집’이 오는 7월 준공을 목표로 공정률 80%를 넘기며 순조롭게 마무리 단계에 들어섰다. 

이곳은 단순한 시설을 넘어, 주민 삶과 문화예술이 자연스럽게 어우러지는 복합 생활문화 플랫폼으로 탈바꿈할 예정이다.

이번 사업은 기존의 ‘금산문화의집’을 리모델링하거나 이전하는 수준을 넘어, 시대 변화에 부응하는 생활문화 중심지로서의 기능을 강화하는 방향으로 추진됐다. 군은 본 사업을 통해 지역 문화생태계의 기초 체력을 높이고, 주민 자율의 문화 공동체 형성을 뒷받침하겠다는 구상이다.

‘금산선유원(錦山仙遊苑)’이라는 새 명칭은 ‘신선이 노니는 뜰’이라는 고전적 어원을 바탕으로, 금산의 자연미와 문화적 상징성을 담아낸 이름이다. 

이 공간은 지역의 문화적 정체성과 현대인의 삶을 연결하는 매개로 설계되었으며, 예술성과 정체성을 더하기 위해 서체 디자인에는 판화가 이철수 작가가 직접 참여했다.

준공 이후 운영될 주요 공간에는 '공연장, 작은도서관, 공동체부엌, 체육공간, 프로그램실, 강의실 등이 포함된다. 다양한 생활문화 프로그램이 상시로 열릴 수 있도록 기능을 분산 배치했고, 이용자의 자율적 참여를 유도하는 구조로 설계됐다.

하반기부터는 위탁운영기관 주관 아래 지역 예술인과 주민이 공동 주체로 참여하는 프로그램이 본격적으로 진행될 계획이다. 단발성 행사를 넘어 지속 가능한 문화운영 체계를 구축하고, 지역 공동체와 예술계가 상호작용하는 창의적 협력 모델도 병행 추진될 전망이다.

박범인 금산군수는 “금산선유원-문화의집은 금산의 정체성과 품격을 응축한 공간”이라며 “누구나 쉽게 접근하고 일상 속에서 문화를 누릴 수 있는 열린 플랫폼으로 거듭날 것”이라고 강조했다.
