글로벌 도시 대전이 세계인과 어깨를 나란히 한 문화축제, ‘제16회 세계인 어울림 축제’가 5월 17일 대전컨벤션센터에서 성황리에 개최됐다.

이번 축제에는 외국인 주민과 대전 시민 등 1000여 명이 참가, 세계 문화를 체험하고 다문화 감수성을 높이는 뜻깊은 시간을 함께했다. 

대전시와 대전사회서비스원이 공동 주최하고, 대전외국인주민통합지원센터가 주관한 이번 행사는 ‘세계인의 날(5월 20일)’을 기념해 다양한 문화권의 사람들이 어울리는 화합의 무대로 펼쳐졌다.

행사장에는 세계문화를 직접 체험하는 ‘Culture Zone’ ,진로를 모색할 수 있는 ‘Career Zone’ ,참여와 교류의 장 ‘Together Zone’ 등 3개의 테마존이 구성됐으며, 26개 기관이 참여해 총 31개 프로그램을 운영했다.

한국 전통놀이인 딱지치기와 오징어게임 체험은 외국인 참가자들에게 큰 인기를 끌었고, 세계 각국의 전통 간식과 문화를 소개하는 부스는 시민들의 발길이 끊이지 않았다. 여기에 더해 다양한 세계문화 공연과 취업 관련 토크콘서트가 무대에 올라 다채로운 볼거리를 선사했다.

이장우 대전시장은 축사를 통해 “서로의 문화를 체험하고 이해하는 이 자리가 진정한 지역공동체를 만들어가는 초석”이라며, “대전이 외국인 주민과 함께 성장하는 글로벌 도시로 거듭날 수 있도록 정책적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 대전시에 거주 중인 외국인 주민 수는 2023년 기준 3만 9,969명으로, 전년 대비 9.7% 증가했다. 특히 **외국인 유학생 비율은 전국에서 가장 높은 36.8%**를 기록하고 있어 대전은 명실상부한 국제도시로 자리매김하고 있다.
