충남대학교 김정겸 총장이 대학의 지역혁신 역할 강화를 위한 ‘대학RISE지원위원회’의 초대 위원장에 공식 선임됐다.

한국대학교육협의회(회장 양오봉 전북대 총장)는 5월 16일 서울 코트야드 메리어트 남대문에서 열린 ‘대학RISE지원위원회 제1차 회의’에서 김정겸 총장을 초대 위원장으로 추대했다고 밝혔다. 

김 위원장의 임기는 2027년 3월 31일까지이다.

대학RISE지원위원회는 지역과 대학이 상생하는 혁신 체제인 ‘RISE(Regional Innovation System & Education)’ 사업의 실행력 제고와 정책 개선을 위한 자문기구로, 대학 현장의 의견을 교육부 및 중앙·지역 RISE 위원회에 제안하는 중추적 역할을 맡는다.

위원회는 전국 17개 시·도의 균형을 고려해 선정된 회원 대학 총장 10명 내외로 구성되며, 이번 회의에서는 위원 위촉장 수여 ,위원회 및 지원센터 소개 ,TF 정책연구 및 간담회 결과 보고 ,향후 운영 방향 등을 논의했다.

김정겸 총장은 위원장 선임 직후 “RISE 체제가 본격 가동되는 올해, 대학은 단순한 교육기관을 넘어 지역혁신의 허브로서 핵심 역할을 수행해야 한다”며 “위원회가 회원 대학의 현장 목소리를 적극 수렴해, 실제적인 개선 방안과 정책 대안을 제시하는 데 앞장서겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 대학RISE지원위원회는 앞으로 RISE 관련 정책연구, 실무회의, 현장 간담회 등을 통해 정책 실행력을 높이고, 지역균형발전과 대학 경쟁력 강화를 동시에 추구하는 협력 모델을 구체화해 나갈 계획이다.

Chungnam National University President Kim Jeong-gyeom Appointed as the First Chairperson of the University RISE Support Committee

Chungnam National University President Kim Jeong-gyeom was officially appointed as the first chairperson of the ‘University RISE Support Committee’ to strengthen the role of universities in regional innovation.

The Korean Council for University Education (Chairperson Yang Oh-bong, President of Chonbuk National University) announced on May 16 that it had elected President Kim Jeong-gyeom as the first chairperson at the ‘University RISE Support Committee 1st Meeting’ held at the Courtyard Marriott Namdaemun in Seoul.

Chairperson Kim’s term of office will end on March 31, 2027.

The University RISE Support Committee is an advisory body for enhancing the execution capacity and improving policies of the ‘RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education)’ project, an innovation system where regions and universities coexist, and plays a pivotal role in proposing opinions from the university field to the Ministry of Education and the central and regional RISE committees.

The committee is composed of about 10 presidents of member universities selected by considering the balance of 17 cities and provinces across the country, and at this meeting, the committee members were awarded letters of appointment, the committee and support center were introduced, the TF policy research and discussion meeting results were reported, and future operation directions were discussed.

Immediately after the appointment of the committee chairman, President Kim Jeong-gyeom stated, “This year, when the RISE system is in full operation, universities must play a key role as a hub for regional innovation beyond mere educational institutions,” and “The committee will actively listen to the voices of member universities and take the lead in suggesting practical improvement measures and policy alternatives.”

Meanwhile, the University RISE Support Committee plans to strengthen policy execution capabilities through RISE-related policy research, working-level meetings, and discussion meetings, and to concretize a cooperative model that simultaneously pursues balanced regional development and enhanced university competitiveness.
