김선광 대전시의회 의원(국민의힘, 중구2)이 지난 12일 중앙초등학교를 찾아 교육환경 개선사업의 진행 상황을 직접 살피고, 학생 안전과 학습권 보장을 위한 시설 점검에 나섰다.

이번 현장 방문은 중앙초에서 추진 중인 교육환경 개선사업의 실질적인 효과를 확인하고, 향후 보완이 필요한 부분을 논의하기 위한 차원에서 마련됐다. 

이날 점검에는 대전시교육청과 동부교육지원청 관계자들이 함께했으며, 중구의회 김옥향·이정수·김석환 의원도 동행해 교육현안에 대한 공동 대응 의지를 내비쳤다.

김 의원은 학교 측으로부터 주요 건의사항을 청취한 뒤, 학생들이 매일 이용하는 운동장과 급식실, 주차장 등을 직접 둘러보며 현장의 목소리에 귀를 기울였다.

운동장에서는 최근 추진된 그린스마트스쿨 조성 과정에서 설치된 모듈러 교실로 인해 발생할 수 있는 지반 침하 위험과 기타 안전 문제에 집중해 점검을 실시했다. 

급식실에 대해서는 학생 수 증가에 따라 조리 공간이 좁아져 효율적 운영이 어려운 실태를 확인하고, 공간 확충의 필요성에 대해 논의했다. 주차장은 교직원과 학부모의 주차 공간 부족 문제가 제기된 가운데, 향후 확장 가능성에 대한 검토도 함께 이뤄졌다.

김선광 의원은 “학교 시설은 단순한 학습 공간이 아닌, 아이들이 안전하게 생활하고 성장할 수 있는 필수 인프라”라며, “오늘 현장에서 확인한 문제들은 관계 기관과 적극 협의해 실질적인 개선이 이뤄질 수 있도록 힘쓰겠다”고 강조했다. 

이어 “교육환경 개선은 시교육청뿐 아니라 기초의회와의 협업도 매우 중요하다”며 “중구의회와 함께 지속적으로 협력해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

이번 현장 점검은 중앙초를 시작으로 지역 내 다른 학교로도 확대될 예정이다.

Daejeon City Council Member Kim Seon-gwang (People’s Power Party, Jung-gu 2) visited Jungang Elementary School on the 12th to personally inspect the progress of the educational environment improvement project and inspect the facilities to ensure student safety and right to learn.

Regarding the cafeteria, the reality that the cooking space has become narrow due to the increase in the number of students and that efficient operation is difficult was confirmed, and the need for space expansion was discussed. As for the parking lot, the issue of insufficient parking space for teachers and parents was raised, and the possibility of future expansion was also reviewed.

Assemblyman Kim Seon-gwang emphasized, “School facilities are not simply learning spaces, but essential infrastructure where children can live and grow safely,” and “We will actively discuss the issues confirmed at the site today with relevant organizations and strive to make substantial improvements.”

He continued, “Improving the educational environment requires collaboration not only with the city office of education but also with the local council,” and “We will continue to cooperate with the Jung-gu Council.”

This on-site inspection will begin at Jungang Elementary School and expand to other schools in the region.
