충남 서산시와 서울 강남구가 지방과 수도권의 대표 지자체로서 손을 맞잡고 미래지향적 협력에 나선다.

서산시는 9일 시청 대회의실에서 강남구와 자매결연식을 개최하고, 문화·관광·복지·미래 산업 등 다양한 분야에서 지속 가능한 교류와 협력을 약속했다. 

이날 행사에는 이완섭 서산시장과 조성명 강남구청장을 비롯해 양측 관계자 120여 명이 참석해 자매도시로서의 첫 발을 내디뎠다.

이날 결연식은 강남구의 소개 영상과 자매결연 기념 영상을 함께 시청하며 두 도시의 상호 이해를 높이는 시간을 가진 뒤, 양 도시 단체장의 협약서 서명과 기념품 교환으로 마무리됐다.

이번 협약을 통해 양 도시는 상호 신뢰를 바탕으로 문화예술 교류 ,관광 자원 연계 ,청소년 탐방 프로그램 ,민간단체 간 협력 등 실질적이고 다양한 분야에서 교류 사업을 추진할 예정이다. 

특히 지역 특화산업과 미래 전략 산업 분야에서의 공동 발전을 도모하며, 단순한 형식적 관계를 넘어 실질적 성과 중심의 파트너십을 구축할 계획이다.

조성명 강남구청장은 “서산시와 강남구가 미래를 함께 설계해가는 동반자가 된 것을 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 “실질적인 협력을 통해 성공적인 자매결연 사례를 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

이완섭 서산시장도 “이번 자매결연이 양 도시 주민들의 삶의 질을 높이는 계기가 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로 관광객 유치, 문화 탐방, 지역축제 교류 등 다방면에서 협력의 폭을 넓혀나가겠다”고 전했다.

이번 자매결연은 지역 간 경계를 넘어, 지방과 수도권이 상호 보완적 관계로 발전해가는 새로운 협력 모델로 주목받고 있다.
