충남도의회가 서천 마량포구의 역사적 가치를 재조명하며 ‘한국 최초 성경전래지’로서의 위상을 축제 콘텐츠로 발전시키기 위한 연구에 본격 착수했다.

충남도의회 ‘한국 최초 성경전래지 역사‧문화 축제를 위한 연구모임’(대표 전익현 의원)은 9일 서천군 성경전래지기념관에서 제2차 회의를 개최하고, 관련 축제의 기획 방향 및 실행 전략을 논의했다.

이번 회의에서는 축제 개발의 기초자료를 마련하기 위한 연구용역의 착수보고가 진행됐다. 연구용역은 5월부터 11월까지 약 7개월간 수행될 예정이며, 마량포구가 지닌 역사적‧문화적 의미 분석은 물론, 국내외 유사 축제 사례 조사, 핵심 프로그램 구상, 관광 자원과의 연계 방안 등이 주요 내용으로 포함됐다.

특히 이날 연구모임은 지역경제 활성화와 연계한 축제 운영 방안에 대해 중점적으로 논의했다. 단순한 기념행사를 넘어 서천 지역 고유의 콘텐츠를 활용한 지속 가능한 축제 모델 구축에 방점이 찍혔다.

전익현 의원(서천1‧더불어민주당)은 “마량포구는 한국 땅에 처음 성경이 전래된 뜻깊은 장소로, 그 역사성을 지역문화로 승화시킬 충분한 자산”이라며 “서천의 자긍심을 높이는 동시에, 지역 관광과 경제에 활력을 불어넣는 축제로 발전시킬 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

충남도의회는 이번 연구모임 활동을 통해 서천의 문화유산을 체계적으로 정리하고, 이를 기반으로 한 차별화된 역사‧문화 축제를 공식 제안할 계획이다.

The Chungnam Provincial Council has begun full-scale research to reexamine the historical value of Seocheon Mallyang Port and develop its status as ‘Korea’s First Bible Origin’ into festival content.

The Chungnam Provincial Council’s ‘Research Group for Korea’s First Bible Origin History and Culture Festival’ (Representative: Assemblyman Jeon Ik-hyeon) held its second meeting on the 9th at the Seocheon-gun Bible Origin Memorial Hall and discussed the planning direction and implementation strategy of the related festival.

At this meeting, a report on the commencement of a research service to prepare basic data for festival development was conducted. The research service is scheduled to be conducted for approximately 7 months from May to November, and its main contents include an analysis of the historical and cultural significance of Mallyang Port, as well as a survey of similar domestic and international festival cases, planning of core programs, and linkage plans with tourism resources.

Through this study group activity, the Chungnam Provincial Council plans to systematically organize Seocheon’s cultural heritage and officially propose a differentiated historical and cultural festival based on it.
