세종시가 미세먼지 저감을 통한 대기질 개선을 위해 노후경유차 조기폐차 지원사업을 추가로 시행한다. 

이를 위해 세종시는 이달 9일, 조기폐차 신청을 오는 11월 28일까지 선착순으로 접수한다고 밝혔다. 단, 배정된 예산이 소진될 경우 조기 마감될 수 있어 조속한 신청이 요구된다.

이번 추가 접수는 기존 사업에서 제외됐거나 신청하지 못했던 차량 소유주들에게 다시 한번 참여 기회를 제공하는 것으로, 특히 환경 유해성이 높은 노후 차량을 중심으로 지원이 집중된다.

지원 금액은 차량 등급과 중량에 따라 차등 적용된다. 

배출가스 5등급 차량은 3.5톤 미만일 경우 최대 300만 원, 3.5톤 이상은 최대 3,000만 원까지 지원받을 수 있다. 

배출가스 4등급 차량의 경우 3.5톤 미만이면 최대 800만 원, 3.5톤 이상은 최대 7800만 원까지 지원이 가능하며, 도로용 건설기계는 최대 1억 2000만 원에 이르는 보조금을 받을 수 있다.

지원 대상은 배출가스 4·5등급에 해당하는 경유차(5등급은 연료유형 무관), 2009년 8월 이전 제작된 도로용 3종 건설기계, 그리고 2004년 이전 배출허용기준이 적용된 지게차 및 굴삭기다. 이들 차량은 대기오염 물질을 많이 배출하는 것으로 알려져 있어, 조기폐차 시 환경개선 효과가 클 것으로 기대된다.

세종시는 행정 편의성을 높이기 위해 지난 4월부터 온라인 청구 시스템을 도입, 신청 및 보조금 청구를 비대면으로 처리할 수 있도록 개선했다. 또한 5등급 차량 소유자에게는 우편을 통해 안내문을 발송하는 등 다각적인 홍보 활동을 병행하며 시민들의 참여를 독려하고 있다.
