1일, 김은복 아산시의원(더불어민주당)이 사기 혐의로 1심에서 유죄 판결을 받은 가운데, 국민의힘 소속 아산시의회 의원들이 공동 성명을 내고 김 의원의 즉각적인 사퇴를 촉구했다.

국민의힘 의원들은 이날 성명서를 통해 “공직자는 누구보다 높은 도덕성과 책임감을 가져야 한다”며 “김 의원은 사법부로부터 사기죄라는 중대한 범죄에 대한 유죄판결을 받음으로써 시민의 신뢰를 저버렸다”고 지적했다. 

이어 “재판부 또한 김 의원이 범행을 부인하고 책임을 회피한 점을 명확히 지적했다”며 사안의 중대성을 강조했다.

앞서 대전지법 천안지원 형사5단독은 김 의원에게 징역 6개월, 집행유예 1년과 사회봉사 80시간을 선고했다. 

1심 재판에서 실형을 선고 받은 김은복 의원은 지난 2018년 보육교사 자격을 가진 A 씨에게 어린이집 동업을 제안하며 인수 비용을 실제보다 부풀려 안내하고, 자신의 몫 7500만 원을 부담하지 않아 A 씨로부터 7500만 원 상당의 이득을 챙긴 혐의로 재판에 넘겨졌었다.

국민의힘 의원들은 이번 판결과 관련해 세 가지 요구를 밝혔다. 

김은복 의원의 즉각적인 의원직 사퇴와 시민에 대한 공개 사과 ,더불어민주당 충남도당의 책임 있는 공식 입장 및 재발 방지 대책 마련 ,강훈식·복기왕 국회의원의 윤리성 강화 방안 수립 등이 그것이다.

이들은 또한 “선출직 공직자가 형사 사건으로 금고 이상의 형이 확정되면 의원직을 상실하는 만큼, 김 의원의 거취는 단순한 정치적 문제가 아닌 법적·도덕적 책임의 문제”라고 강조했다.

끝으로 “국민의힘 아산시의회 의원 일동은 이번 사건을 계기로 더욱 투명하고 신뢰받는 의회를 만들기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 덧붙였다.
