더불어민주당이 충북 청주에서 19일, 제21대 대통령 후보 선출을 위한 첫 지역 순회 경선을 개최한 가운데, 이재명 후보가 압도적인 득표율로 선두를 차지하며 강력한 대세론을 입증했다.​

이날 충청권 경선(대전·세종·충북·충남)에서 이 후보는 총 6만4,730표 중 5만7,057표를 획득, 88.15%의 득표율로 1위를 기록했다. 김동연 후보는 4,883표(7.54%)로 2위, 김경수 후보는 2,790표(4.31%)를 얻어 3위에 올랐다.​

충북 출신인 김동연 후보는 청와대와 국회, 대법원 등 주요 국가기관의 이전을 포함한 ‘국가 균형발전 개혁안’을 제안하며 충청의 위상 강화를 강조했다. 김경수 후보는 충청권 광역급행철도(CTX) 조기 착공과 중부권 동서횡단철도 확대 등 지역 인프라 확충을 중심으로 한 교통 공약을 발표했다.​
