장종태 국회의원(더불어민주당, 대전 서구갑)이 최근 정치권에서 제기되고 있는 개헌 논의에 대해 깊은 우려를 표명하며, 현재는 개헌을 논의할 시기가 아니라는 입장을 밝혔다.

장 의원은 7일 밝힌 입장문을 통해 "국민들이 여전히 내란이 끝나지 않았다고 느끼고 있으며, 헌정 질서를 유린한 내란 행위가 헌법재판소에 의해 확인된 상황에서 개헌을 논의하는 것은 부적절하다"고 강조했다.

그러면서 장 의원은 "개헌의 필요성에는 동의하지만, 그 과정에서 '순서'와 '타이밍'이 중요하다"고 주장했다. 

장 의원은 "현재 우리가 해야 할 일은 혼란의 원인을 뿌리 뽑고, 내란의 책임을 명확히 묻는 것"이라고 강조하고, 기초가 흔들린 상황에서 개헌이라는 새로운 건축물을 세우는 것은 불가능하다는 점을 강조하며, 먼저 정의를 세우고 국가의 상식을 복원하는 것이 우선이라고 덧붙였다.

그는 "지금은 논의를 위한 논의가 아니라, 국민과 정의의 이름으로 사건의 '끝'을 명확히 맺는 시간"이라고 말하며, 개헌 논의는 이후에 진행되어야 한다고 주장했다. 

장종태 의원의 이날 입장문은 국민과 함께 정의 위에 개헌을 세우겠다는 의지를 표명하며, 이 과정에서의 순서와 중요성을 강조한 것이라는 해석이다.
