충남 부여군이 지역 역사와 문화를 바탕으로 한 인성교육을 본격 추진한다. 

군은 4일 부여교육지원청에서 ‘향토사교육 연계 인성교육’ 활성화를 위한 업무협약을 체결하고, 지역 중심의 교육 체계를 강화하는 행보에 나섰다.

이번 협약은 부여군과 부여교육지원청을 비롯해 국립부여박물관, 국립부여문화유산연구소, (재)백제세계유산센터, 부여 마을교육공동체 등 총 6개 기관이 참여해 이뤄졌다. 

각 기관은 향후 향토사 교육의 기반 조성, 교육 자료 및 정보의 상호 공유, 교육자료 개발, 수업 운영 및 지원, 교직원과 지역사회의 교육 전문성 강화 등에 협력하기로 했다.

특히 주목할 만한 점은, 부여군이 자체 제작한 어린이 역사 도서 '부여역사탐험대'가 관내 24개 초등학교의 정규 교육과정에 활용된다는 점이다. 

초등학교 3~5학년 약 700여 명의 학생들이 이를 통해 부여의 역사와 문화를 학습하게 되며, 지방자치단체가 발간한 역사 교재가 정규 수업에 도입되는 사례는 도내 최초다.

군은 향토사 교육의 지속 가능성을 위해 해당 교재 외에도 활동지와 다양한 교육 자료를 추가로 개발·배포할 계획이다. 또한, 유적지 탐방 등 체험 중심의 현장 학습이 병행될 수 있도록 행정적 지원도 아끼지 않을 방침이다.

박정현 부여군수는 “향토사 교육을 통해 지역에서 자라는 어린이들에게 부여의 정체성과 자긍심을 심어주는 계기가 될 것”이라며 “부여가 역사 교육의 모범 사례로 자리매김함으로써, 타 지역에도 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있기를 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 이번 협약은 지역 유관기관들이 손을 맞잡고 교육 분야에서 새로운 협력 모델을 제시했다는 점에서 의의가 크며, 부여군의 향토사 교육이 단발성 행사에 그치지 않고 지속적인 교육 시스템으로 자리잡는 계기가 될 전망이다.

On the 4th, the county signed a business agreement with the Buyeo Office of Education to promote ‘character education linked to local history education’ and took steps to strengthen the local education system.

In order to ensure the sustainability of local history education, the county plans to develop and distribute additional activity sheets and various educational materials in addition to the textbook.
