대전시가 국내 최초로 도입하는 3칸 굴절버스 신교통수단 시범사업에 본격적으로 착수했다. 이번 사업은 차량 도입, 노선 설계, 기반시설 구축, 운영 준비 및 개통까지 단계별 현안 해결 방안을 모색하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.

지난 1월, 대전시는 국토교통부 모빌리티혁신위원회의 규제 실증특례를 통과하여 제도적 추진 기반을 마련한 바 있다. 이를 바탕으로 시는 신속하고 원활한 사업 추진을 위해 관련 부서 및 기관으로 구성된 태스크포스(TF)를 운영하고, 외부 전문가 자문위원회를 초청하여 12일 시청 대회의실에서 첫 회의를 개최했다.

신교통수단 시범사업 추진 TF는 김종명 철도건설국장이 단장을 맡고, 교통국, 도시철도건설국, 교통공사 등 총 7개 부서와 1개 공사에서 16명으로 구성됐다. 이들은 노선 계획 및 설계(1단계), 운영 준비(2단계), 개통(3단계) 등 단계별 중점 검토 안건을 논의할 예정이다.

1단계인 노선 계획 및 설계 단계(3~7월)에서는 차량 발주 및 인증, 정거장 신설, 차고지 신호주기 설정 등 기반시설 구축 방안을 중점적으로 추진한다. 2단계는 운영 준비 단계로 면허 신청 요건 및 차고지 법정시설 구축(8~12월)이 포함된다. 마지막 3단계에서는 시범노선 개통과 대시민 홍보, 실증특례 사후 평가가 진행된다.

또한, 이날 유득원 행정부시장 주재의 TF 회의에서는 S-BRT 분야 및 도로교통, 제도, 차량 부문 등 전문가 12명으로 구성된 정책자문위원회를 구성하여, 신교통수단 도입에 따른 법적 및 기술적 문제를 해결할 계획이다.

1단계 구간인 유성온천역 네거리~가수원 네거리(6.2㎞)는 빠르면 올해 말 시범 개통을 목표로 추진하며, 충남대~정림삼거리(7.8㎞) 연장구간은 도시철도 2호선 트램 개통과 함께 완전 개통할 예정이다.
