충남 당진시는 기업 유치와 출산·보육 정책을 통해 인구 감소와 저출산 위기 속에서도 긍정적인 인구 증가 추세를 보이고 있다. 

2023년에 이어 2024년에도 충남에서 합계 출산율 1위를 기록하며, 2년 연속 선두를 유지하고 있다. 민선 8기 이후 당진시의 순유입 인구는 6624명에 달하며, 전입 사유는 주택(36.6%), 직업(30.0%), 가족(22.0%) 순으로 나타났다.
