대전맹학교(교장 문성준)는 12일 졸업생 윤민서(22세) 학생이 아주대학교 심리학과에 당당히 합격했다고 밝혔다. 

윤민서 학생은 생후 4살 때 두개골 협착증에 따른 합병증으로 저시력(경증) 장애를 갖게 되었다. 충북 영동에서 태어나 초등학교를 다녔으며, 중학교 때 대전으로 이사하여 일반학교에서 통합교육을 받았다. 

당시 시각장애 학생에 대한 지원이 부족했으나, 대전맹학교 부설 ‘시청각장애 특수교육 지원센터’에서 시기능훈련과 보조공학기기 활용 교육을 받으며 어려움을 극복했다. 이러한 노력 끝에 우수한 성적으로 중학교 과정을 마쳤다.  

2020년 3월 대전맹학교 고등학교 과정에 입학한 윤민서 학생은 학생회장을 역임하며 리더십을 발휘했다. 특히 몸이 불편한 후배들이나 성적 향상에 어려움을 겪는 학생들을 위해 동아리를 조직해 이끄는 등 모범적인 활동으로 주변의 귀감이 되었다.

2023년에는 아쉽게도 원하던 아주대학교 심리학과 입학에 실패했지만, 이에 좌절하지 않고 목원대학교 사회복지학과에 합격하여 2년간 학업에 전념했다. 매 학기 과수석을 놓치지 않는 성과를 통해 학문적 역량을 입증한 그는 마침내 2025년, 바라던 아주대학교 심리학과 수시 과정에 합격하는 성과를 이루었다.  

윤민서 학생은 “장래에는 일반학교에서 상담 교사로 일하며 학생들의 고민을 해결하거나 장애인 일자리개발원, 노인진흥개발원 등에서 소외된 이들의 권익을 위해 일하고 싶다”고 포부를 밝혔다. 

문성준 교장은 “윤민서 학생은 장애를 뛰어넘어 스스로 길을 개척해나가는 열정과 도전의 상징”이라며 “대전맹학교는 앞으로도 많은 학생이 자신의 꿈을 실현할 수 있도록 지원을 아끼지 않을 것”이라고 전했다.

Daejeon School for the Blind (Principal Moon Seong-jun) announced on the 12th that its graduate, Minseo Yoon (22 years old), had been accepted to the Department of Psychology at Ajou University.

Minseo Yoon developed low vision (mild) due to complications from cranial stenosis at the age of 4. She was born in Yeongdong, Chungcheongbuk-do, attended elementary school, and moved to Daejeon in middle school, where she received integrated education at a regular school.

In 2023, he unfortunately failed to enter the Department of Psychology at Ajou University, which he had wanted to enter, but he did not give up and was accepted to the Department of Social Welfare at Mokwon University, where he devoted himself to his studies for two years. He proved his academic ability by not missing the top spot every semester, and finally achieved the result of being accepted to the Department of Psychology at Ajou University in 2025.

Yoon Min-seo said, “In the future, I want to work as a counselor at a regular school to solve students’ problems, or work for the rights of the marginalized at the Disabled Employment Development Center and the Senior Citizens’ Development Center.”
