충남 태안군이 도내 군부 최초로 '2025 장애인 평생학습도시'로 선정되어 큰 기쁨을 안았다. 

12일, 교육부와 국립특수교육원이 주관하는 이번 선정에 따라 태안군은 장애인 교육 지원 및 취업 연계 과정 운영 등 다양한 프로그램을 시행할 수 있게 되었다.

장애인 평생학습도시 선정은 장애인의 학습 기회를 확대하고 교육 불균형을 해소하여 장애 친화적인 평생학습 체계를 구축하기 위한 것이다. 

올해 태안군을 포함해 전국 14개 지자체가 선정되었으며, 태안군은 충남도 내에서 군부 최초로 이름을 올렸다.

태안군은 국비 9천만 원을 확보하여, 올해부터 3년간 지원체계 구축, 장애유형별 프로그램, 기관 연계, 취업 연계 등 4개 분야에서 11개 프로그램을 운영할 계획이다. 

구체적으로는 '찾아가는 장애인 평생학습', '장애인 동아리 활동 지원', '점자 교실', '수어 교실', '자격증 취득(바리스타 과정)' 등 장애인 맞춤형 교육 과정을 운영하고, 관내 유관기관과의 협력을 강화할 방침이다.

가세로 군수는 “장애인 평생학습도시 선정을 발판 삼아 모든 군민이 차별 없이 평생학습 혜택을 받을 수 있는 기반을 마련할 것”이라며, “장애인 등 취약계층의 삶의 질 향상을 위해 앞으로도 다각적인 노력을 기울이겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 태안군은 지역 장애인을 위한 평생교육 프로그램 운영과 장애인이 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 '반다비 국민체육센터' 건립을 추진하고 있으며, 지난해 11월에는 전국 지자체 최초로 '읍면 장애인체육회'를 출범하는 성과를 거두는 등 장애인 편의 증진을 위한 다양한 노력을 기울여왔다.
