백성현 논산시장이 15일 시청 3층 회의실에서 열린 신년 간담회에서 2025년을 희망의 해로 만들겠다는 포부를 밝혔다. 

이날 간담회에서 백 시장은 "오직 논산과 논산시민을 위해 더욱 강한 논산, 더 큰 시민 행복 시대를 만들겠다"며, 혁신적인 행정으로 대한민국을 선도하는 논산시의 미래를 강조했다.

이번 간담회에서는 2024년 주요 성과와 민선 8기 4년차의 역점 사업들이 공유되었으며, 백 시장은 "2년 반 동안 논산의 변화를 위해 모든 열정을 쏟았다"며 시민의 삶의 질 향상에 대한 사명감을 드러냈다. 

그는 "이제까지의 노력들이 현실로 나타나고 있다"며, 시민들에게 희망을 전하기 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있다고 말했다.

특히, 백 시장은 인구소멸 위기 극복을 위한 논산형 인구 정책을 소개하며, 출산지원금 외에도 7단계의 세분화된 정책을 통해 젊은 층의 유입을 도모하고 있다고 밝혔다. 

그는 국방군수산업을 통해 양질의 일자리를 창출하고, 청년을 위한 주거정책과 결혼지원금, 출산장려금 등을 지원하는 방안을 설명했다. 또한, 24시간 돌봄 서비스 제공과 미래 인재 육성을 위한 교육 기반 마련에도 힘쓰고 있다고 덧붙였다.

간담회에서는 탑정호복합문화휴양단지 조성, 국방군수산업 관련 향후 계획, 스마트 농업 실천 단계 등 논산의 중점 사업과 미래 비전에 대한 질의응답이 이어졌다. 

백 시장은 KDI와 관련된 질문에도 직접 답변하며, 시민들의 궁금증을 해소하는 시간을 가졌다.
