대전 유성구가 청각장애인을 위한 인공달팽이관 수술 및 재활치료비 지원대상자를 오는 3월 7일까지 모집한다고 7일 밝혔다.

인공달팽이관 수술은 고도난청 청각장애인의 귓속 달팽이관에 가느다란 전극선을 삽입하여 전기신호로 소리를 듣게 해주는 수술로, 정상적인 언어생활을 돕는 치료법이다. 

유성구는 저소득 청각장애인의 의료비 부담을 줄이고 안정적인 생활을 지원하여 언어생활 회복뿐만 아니라 장애인 가정의 경제적 부담을 덜고자 한다.

지원 대상은 중위소득 150% 이하의 재가 및 시설 청각장애인으로, 인공달팽이관 시술과 재활치료가 가능한 의료기관에서 발급한 수술 가능 확인서를 첨부하여 주민등록지 행정복지센터에 신청하면 된다. 

선정된 대상자는 인공달팽이관 수술비로 최대 700만원, 재활치료비로 최대 400만원까지 지원받을 수 있다.

정용래 유성구청장은 “이번 지원 사업이 청각장애인들에게 보다 나은 언어생활의 기회를 제공하고, 가정의 의료비 부담을 줄이는 데 도움이 되길 바란다”며, “앞으로도 소외계층을 위한 다양한 복지정책을 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
