이장우 대전시장은 2024년 시정 성과와 2025년 주요 업무계획을 발표하며 2025년을 민선 8기의 "완성의 해"로 삼겠다고 밝혔다. 

2024년은 민선 8기 도약의 해로, 대전시는 여러 지표에서 눈부신 성과를 거두었다.

지난해 성과로 이 시장은 대전이 도시브랜드 평판지수에서 17개 시도 중 5개월 연속 1위를 차지하고, 85개 도시 중에서도 2개월 연속 1위를 기록했다고 전했다. 

또한 주민생활만족도 조사에서 전국 1위, 여름휴가 만족도에서 만년 최하위권이던 대전이 최초로 10위권에 진입하는 성과를 거두었다. 물가, 상도의, 청결·위생 항목에서 1위를 기록하는 등, 대전의 도시 위상이 전국적으로 높아졌다.

대전은 또한 28년 넘게 시민들의 숙원이었던 도시철도 2호선 착공, 유성복합터미널 기공, 오랜 숙원사업들의 해결과 시민 불편 해소에서 큰 성과를 보였다.
