충남 천안시는 개인형 이동장치(PM) 이용자의 안전을 확보하기 위해 2일 안전 종합대책을 수립하고 시행한다고 밝혔다. 

최근 PM 이용자가 지속적으로 증가함에 따라, 경찰 및 공유 PM 운영업체와의 간담회를 통해 지역 여건에 맞는 대책을 마련했다.

이번 안전 종합대책은 개인형 이동장치 중점관리지역 운영 ,주차금지구역 페널티 부과 ,주차장 확대 ,학교와 연계한 관리 강화 ,경찰과의 단속 강화 ,출퇴근 시간 정리 강화 ,견인제도 강화 등 7개의 세부사업으로 구성된다.

천안시는 상업가, 주택가, 공장 주변, 대학가 등 민원 다발 지역 12개소를 중점관리지역으로 지정하고, 허용된 구역 외에 주차를 금지하여 PM으로 인한 사고와 불편을 예방할 계획이다. 

지정된 중점관리지역은 불당1동, 불당2동, 불당동 카페거리, 두정동, 성성동, 쌍용동, 청당동, 신부동, 원성동, 백석동, 삼성 SDI, 백석동 유통단지 등이다. 시범운영 후 점차 확대할 예정이다.

주차금지구역에 대한 페널티도 부과된다. 개인형 이동장치 대여업체의 무단방치에 대한 페널티 금액은 최소 5,000원 이상으로 통일되며, 주차금지구역 반납을 방지하기 위해 화면 표시 및 소리 알림 기능이 도입된다.

또한, PM 무단 방치를 예방하고 편리한 이용 환경을 조성하기 위해 주차장을 확대할 예정이다. 동절기(1~3월)에는 가상 주차 존을 운영한 후, 실물 주차 존을 설치할 계획이다.
