충남대학교가 최근 국방기술진흥연구소의 ‘국방 우주보안 특화연구실’ 과제의 총괄 주관기관으로 최종 선정됐다고 31일 밝혔다. 

이번 선정에 따라 충남대는 2024년부터 2030년까지 6년간 총 60억 원의 예산을 지원받아 국방 우주보안 분야의 핵심기술 연구를 주도하게 된다.

국방기술진흥연구소의 ‘특화연구실’ 사업은 산·학·연이 공동으로 국방 분야의 핵심기술을 연구하는 집단 연구과제로, 충남대는 이번 과제에서 ‘국방 우주보안’ 분야의 핵심기술을 주제로 연구를 진행한다. 

이번 연구 과제는 총 5개 과제로 구성되며, 충남대는 ‘OTAR 및 원격 보안패치 기술’을 주제로 제4과제를 단독 수행하고, 슈어소프트테크㈜와 함께 제3과제인 ‘위성자산 보안검증 기법’을 연구한다. 

또한, 알티스트㈜와 고려대가 제1과제인 ‘위성자산용 Secure-OS 플랫폼 개발’을, 고려대와 상명대가 제2과제인 ‘양자내성 암호 프로토콜 연구’를, 경희대와 루미르㈜가 제5과제인 ‘사이버 모의훈련용 큐브위성 개발’을 수행할 예정이다.

충남대는 내년 1월 21일 ‘국방 우주보안 특화연구실’ 개소식과 착수회의를 통해 공식적인 연구실 운영과 컨소시엄 과제를 시작할 계획이다.

김형신 교수(충남대 컴퓨터융합학부, 총괄 연구책임자)는 “이번 국방 우주보안 특화연구실 선정은 충남대의 보안 분야와 인공위성 컴퓨터 시스템 분야의 연구 역량을 결집해 이룬 성과”라며, “충남대는 대전시가 미래 발전을 위해 추진 중인 6대 전략산업 중 하나인 우주항공과 우주 보안기술 분야를 연계하고, 향후 주도적인 협력 파트너로 자리매김할 수 있도록 최선을 다할 것”이라고 밝혔다.
