세종시가 31일 ‘2024년 장애인통계’ 결과를 발표했다. 

이번 통계는 통계작성기관의 행정자료 등을 활용·분석한 저비용·고효율의 2년 주기 행정통계로, 2018년 처음 시작되었다.

2023년 말 기준으로 시에 등록된 장애인 인구는 1만 2,908명으로, 전체 내국인 인구 38만 6525명 중 3.3%를 차지한다. 이 중 60세 이상 장애인은 7284명으로, 전체 장애인 인구의 56.4%를 차지하며 과반을 넘는 수치를 기록했다.

장애 정도별로는 경증 장애인이 8037명(62.3%), 중증 장애인이 4871명(37.7%)으로 나타났다. 장애인 의무고용 근로자는 1056명이며, 세종시의 장애인 고용률은 3.48%로, 이는 전국 평균인 3.06%보다 0.32% 높은 수치이다. 사업체 부문별 장애인 고용률은 공공기관 3.57%, 민간기업 3.45%로 집계되었다.

세종시에는 장애아 전문 어린이집이 1곳 운영 중이며, 현재 14명의 장애아동이 재원 중이다. 또한, 장애아 통합 어린이집은 총 8곳으로, 이들 어린이집에 재원 중인 장애아동은 44명이다.

특수학교 2곳에는 279명이 재학 중이며, 일반학교에 개설된 특수학급 131개에는 726명이, 일반학급 86개에는 174명의 장애 학생이 재학 중인 것으로 나타났다. 특수교육을 담당하는 특수교사는 237명이며, 교사 1인당 평균 학생 수는 4.2명으로 조사되었다.

국민기초생활보장 수급자는 1594명으로 장애인 인구의 12.3%를 차지하며, 장애인연금, 장애수당, 장애아동수당의 총 수급자는 2728명으로 집계되었다. 

이 중 장애인연금 수급자는 1467명(53.8%), 장애수당은 1206명(44.2%), 장애아동수당은 55명(2.0%)이다.

세종시는 이번 장애인통계 자료를 바탕으로 장애인들의 사회참여 기회 확대, 역량 강화, 취업 지원 등 다양한 장애인 정책 수립에 활용할 계획이다.
