충남 당진시 산하 당진시농업기술센터가 운영하는 청년창업농 임대형 스마트팜 A동에서 청년 농업인들이 첫 완숙 토마토를 수확했다. 

이 스마트팜에는 4명의 청년 농업인이 입주하여 운영 중이며, 올해의 목표는 평당 100kg의 수확량을 달성하는 것이다. 지난해의 평당 수확량은 81kg이었다.

수확된 토마토는 유럽계 품종인 TY트러스트로, 품질이 뛰어나고 시장성이 높은 것으로 평가받고 있다. 

당진시는 청년들이 스마트팜을 통해 안정적으로 농업에 정착할 수 있도록 다양한 지원을 아끼지 않고 있으며, 최신 설비가 갖춰진 스마트팜은 복합환경제어 시스템과 공기열 히트펌프 등을 통해 최적의 생육 환경을 제공하고 있다.

또한, 당진시는 청년 농업인들이 경영과 재배 실습을 병행할 수 있도록 전문 교육과 컨설팅을 제공하여 이들의 성공적인 농업 경영을 지원하고 있다. 

당진시 관계자는 "스마트팜 사업을 통해 청년 창업농의 안정적인 정착을 도모하고 있으며, 앞으로도 청년 농업인들이 농업의 미래를 이끌어갈 수 있도록 지속적인 지원을 이어갈 것"이라고 밝혔다.
