최민호 세종시장이 최근의 정치적 혼란 속에서 시민들의 안전과 경제적 어려움을 보살펴야 한다고 강조했다. 

10일 시청 집현실에서 열린 간부회의에서 최 시장은 공직자들이 흔들림 없이 중심을 잡고 시민의 삶을 지키는 데 최선을 다해야 한다고 밝혔다.

최 시장은 “현재의 정치적 불안정 속에서 시민들이 느끼는 불안감은 클 것”이라며, “이럴 때일수록 공직자는 자신의 역할에 충실해야 한다”고 말했다. 

특히 겨울철 한파와 폭설 등 자연재해에 대비해 시민들이 어려움을 겪지 않도록 사전 준비와 세심한 주의를 당부했다.

최 시장은 “연말 특수로 기대되는 경제적 혜택이 사라지면서 서민경제가 더욱 어려워지고 있다”며, “모든 공직자가 어려운 상황에 처한 시민들을 어루만지고 그들의 목소리에 귀 기울여야 한다”고 강조했다. 

이는 중앙 정치의 혼란 속에서도 지방정부가 시민의 삶을 지키는 중요한 역할을 해야 한다는 의미로 해석된다.

또한, 최 시장은 오는 12일 예정된 사회복지공동모금회 성금 및 차량 전달식과 관련해 독거노인과 장애인 등 취약계층 보호를 위한 사회 안전망 확충에 만전을 기해줄 것을 요청했다. 

그러면서 “취약계층이 안전하게 생활할 수 있도록 지속적인 관심과 지원이 필요하다”고 덧붙였다.

이날 간부회의에서 최 시장은 시민주권회의 구성과 관련해 다양한 계층의 시민 의견이 반영될 수 있도록 위원 모집을 위한 홍보 활동을 강화할 것을 당부하며, 시민 참여의 중요성을 강조했다.
