프로야구의 화려한 축제인 ‘2025 KBO 올스타전’이 내년에 준공될 대전 신축 야구장에서 열릴 예정이다. 

대전시는 9일 시청에서 (사)한국야구위원회(KBO)와 올스타전 개최를 위한 상호협력 업무협약을 체결했다.

이장우 대전시장과 허구연 KBO 총재는 협약 체결 후, 서로 사인한 야구 사인볼과 꿈돌이 인형을 교환하며 올스타전의 성공적인 개최를 위한 협력을 다짐했다.

이번 올스타전 개최지는 KBO가 구단과의 협의 대신 처음으로 공모방식으로 선정되었으며, 대전시는 신축 야구장 개장과 전폭적인 행정 지원을 제안하여 2025년 개최지로 최종 결정됐다.

대전에서 KBO 올스타전이 열리는 것은 1984년, 2003년, 2012년에 이어 네 번째로, 1964년 한밭야구장 개장 이후 61년 만에 신축 야구장에서 개최되는 만큼 그 의미가 더욱 깊다.
