㈔세계여성평화그룹(IWPG) 글로벌 10국(글로벌국장 김화정)은 7일, 대한민국, 일본, 멕시코, 튀르키예, 인도, 카자흐스탄, 브라질, 북마케도니아, 콩고민주공화국 등 9개국에서 200여 명의 여성이 참석한 가운데, PLTE(여성평화강의자 양성교육) 제6기 연합 수료식을 온라인으로 개최했다고 밝혔다.

PLTE는 전 세계적으로 전쟁의 위기감이 고조되고 있는 가운데, 전란으로부터 자녀들을 지키고자 하는 여성들이 모성을 바탕으로 평화감수성을 확산시키고, 보다 포괄적인 차원의 전쟁 억제 활동에 동참하기 위해 기획된 교육 프로그램이다.

IWPG 홍보대사인 사넴 아르칸(튀르키예 문화관광부 저작권 총국장)은 축사에서 “나는 PLTE 수료 후 즉시 여러 분야에서 세계 평화를 위해 적극적으로 실천했다. 수료생 여러분도 평화교육의 힘으로 평화를 위한 위대한 일을 하시길 진심으로 바란다”고 말했다.

수료생인 최선미씨는 “평화교육을 받으며 군복무 중인 아들이 떠올랐다. 우리 모두 마음과 뜻을 하나로 모아 평화를 위해 힘쓰자. ‘가족 평화법’을 나부터 실천하고 이웃들에게도 권유하겠다”고 소감을 밝혔다.

멕시코 수료생 마리아(Maria Fernanda Morales)는 “우리 여성만의 독특한 관점과 역량을 통해 글로벌 도전 과제에 대한 포괄적인 해결책을 이끌어낼 수 있다. 평화와 지속 가능성이 현실이 되는 세상을 위해 함께 노력해야만 진정으로 변혁적인 미래를 만들 수 있다”고 강조했다.

김화정 글로벌국장은 인사말을 통해 “IWPG는 PLTE를 통해 전쟁의 참혹함과 평화의 중요성을 깨우치고, 입으로만 외치는 평화가 아니라 전 세계 여성이 하나 되어 지금껏 한 번도 이루지 못한 평화를 이루어 후대에 유산으로 물려주고자 한다. 자신이 평화를 위해 실천할 수 있는 것이 무엇인지 생각하고 연대해 나가야 한다”고 강조했다.

한편, IWPG는 카자흐스탄의 사울레(Saule Gubaidullinovna)를 평화위원장으로 위촉하고, 멕시코의 크레아도라스 데 퓨트로(Creadoras de Futuro)와 평화 실천 협약을 위한 MOU 체결식도 진행했다.

IWPG는 전 세계적으로 여성평화교육을 확산하고, 지속 가능한 평화를 이루기 위한 여성들의 연대를 강화해 나갈 계획이다. 

IWPG는 유엔 경제사회이사회(ECOSOC)와 글로벌소통국(DGC)에 등록된 세계적인 여성 NGO로, 122개국에 114개의 지부와 66개국에 730여 개의 협력단체를 두고 있다. 

‘지속 가능한 세계 평화 실현’을 비전으로 세상에 필요한 연대 확산, 평화 문화 전파, 여성평화교육, ‘지구촌 전쟁종식 평화 선언문(DPCW)’ 법제화 지지와 촉구를 위해 활발히 활동하고 있다.

IWPG Holds 6th Joint Completion Ceremony for PLTE

200 Women from 9 Countries Participated

㈔The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global 10 Countries (Global Director Kim Hwa-jung) announced on the 7th that they held the 6th Joint Completion Ceremony for PLTE (Women’s Peace Lecturer Training) online, with 200 women from 9 countries including South Korea, Japan, Mexico, Turkey, India, Kazakhstan, Brazil, North Macedonia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in attendance.

PLTE is an educational program designed to spread peace awareness based on motherhood among women who want to protect their children from war amidst the growing sense of crisis over war around the world, and to participate in more comprehensive war suppression activities.

In her congratulatory speech, Sanem Arkan (Director General of Copyright, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Turkey), an IWPG public relations ambassador, said, “Immediately after completing PLTE, I actively practiced for world peace in various fields. I sincerely hope that all the graduates will do great things for peace with the power of peace education.”

Choi Seon-mi, a graduate, said, “While receiving peace education, I thought of my son who is serving in the military. Let’s all unite our hearts and minds and work for peace. I will start by practicing the ‘Family Peace Act’ and recommend it to my neighbors.”

Maria Fernanda Morales, a graduate from Mexico, emphasized, “We women can come up with comprehensive solutions to global challenges through our unique perspectives and capabilities. We can create a truly transformative future only if we work together for a world where peace and sustainability become a reality.”

In her opening remarks, Global Director Kim Hwa-jung emphasized, “Through PLTE, IWPG wants to awaken people to the horrors of war and the importance of peace, and not just talk about peace, but to achieve peace that women around the world have never achieved before by uniting as one and passing it on as a legacy to future generations. We need to think about what we can do for peace and work together in solidarity.”

Meanwhile, IWPG appointed Saule Gubaidullinovna of Kazakhstan as the Peace Committee Chairperson and also held an MOU signing ceremony for a peace practice agreement with Creadoras de Futuro of Mexico.

IWPG plans to spread women’s peace education worldwide and strengthen women’s solidarity to achieve sustainable peace.

IWPG is a global women’s NGO registered with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Global Communication Bureau (DGC), with 114 branches in 122 countries and approximately 730 cooperative organizations in 66 countries.

With the vision of ‘realizing sustainable world peace,’ it is actively working to spread solidarity needed in the world, spread a culture of peace, provide women’s peace education, and support and urge the enactment of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
