대전시가 교육부 및 대전시 교육청과 협력하여 방산인력 양성을 본격적으로 추진한다고 밝혔다. 

대전시는 1일 서울 웨스틴 조선 호텔에서 이주호 교육부장관이 참석한 가운데 열린 ‘2024년 협약형 특성화고등학교 공동 비전 선포식’에 참석해 이 같은 계획을 밝혔다.

이 자리에서 대전시는 협약형 특성화고등학교인 충남기계공업고와 함께 협약형 특성화고의 성공을 위해 상호 협력하기로 했다. 

대전시는 2029년까지 충남기계공업고에 15억 원을 포함한 총 75억 원의 사업비를 투자하여 기업 맞춤형 방위산업 인재를 양성할 예정이다. 또한, 지역 방산기업과 대학도 참여하여 학생들의 현장 실습 등을 지원할 계획이다.

장호종 대전시 경제과학부시장은 비전 선포식에서 “협약형 특성화고등학교가 지역 기업의 인력 수급 문제를 해결하고 기업 맞춤형 인력 공급을 활성화하는 촉매 역할을 할 것”이라며, “대전시는 지역 컨소시엄 참여기업 및 기관과 적극 협력하여 협약형 특성화고등학교 학생들이 지역 기업에 취업하고 정주하는 선순환 체계를 구축할 수 있도록 최선을 다해 지원하겠다.”고 전했다.

한편, 대전시는 시 교육청 및 유관기관과 함께 컨소시엄을 구성하여 교육부의 협약형 특성화고등학교 공모에 도전했으며, 지난 5월 충남기계공업고등학교가 최종 선정되었다. 

협약형 특성화고등학교는 지역과 국가의 필요에 맞는 특수 산업 분야 인재를 육성하기 위해 지자체, 교육청, 지역 기업, 특성화고가 협력하여 맞춤형 교육을 실현하는 학교를 의미한다. 

충남기계공업고는 올해 4개 학과를 개편하고 방위산업 관련 과목을 신설하는 등 내년 3월 개교를 위한 준비를 하고 있다.

Daejeon City plans to invest a total of 7.5 billion won, including 1.5 billion won in Chungnam Machinery and Technical High School, by 2029 to train defense industry talent tailored to companies. In addition, local defense companies and universities will also participate to support students' field training, etc.

At the vision declaration ceremony, Jang Ho-jong, the Mayor of Economic Sciences of Daejeon City, said, “The agreement-type specialized high school will serve as a catalyst to solve the labor supply and demand problem of local companies and activate customized labor supply for companies,” and added, “Daejeon City will actively cooperate with local consortium participating companies and institutions to establish a virtuous cycle system in which students of agreement-type specialized high schools can find employment and settle in local companies.”

Meanwhile, Daejeon City formed a consortium with the city’s Office of Education and related organizations to compete in the Ministry of Education’s agreement-type specialized high school competition, and Chungnam Machinery and Technology High School was finally selected in May.

An agreement-type specialized high school refers to a school where local governments, offices of education, local companies, and specialized high schools cooperate to realize customized education in order to foster talent in special industries that meet the needs of the region and the country.

Chungnam Machinery and Technology High School is preparing to open in March next year by reorganizing four departments this year and establishing new subjects related to the defense industry.
