계룡시(시장 이응우)는 국·도비 예산(공모사업 포함) 총액 1582억 원을 달성하는 등 2024년 3분기 기준, 역대 최대 규모의 재원을 확보했다고 20일 밝혔다. 

이는 개청 역사상, 최상의 성과로 ‘민선8기 공약 이행 및 현안 사업 추진’을 위한 재원 확보 등 지방 재정 안정성 강화에도 긍정적 역할을 할 것으로 전망된다. 

시는 민선8기 출범 이후, 이전재원 확보를 최우선시했고 올해 중앙부처 및 충남도 주관 공모사업 중 19개 사업(총사업비 1313억 원)에 선정되는 등 공모사업 발굴에도 총력을 기울였다. 그 결과 2022년 대비 약 18배, 2023년 대비 약 5배의 증가된 예산 수치를 나타냈으며, 제2회 추경예산을 통해 추가로 782억 원의 국·도비를 확보하여, 총 1582억 원의 재원 마련에 성공했다. 확보액으로만 놓고 보면 전년도 대비 634억 원이 증가한 수치다.

특히, 공모사업 선정으로 확보한 예산은 ‘지방상수도 현대화 사업(270억 원), 재해위험개선지구 정비사업(160억 원), 공공임대형 지식산업센터 건립(160억 원), 엄사초 학교복합시설 공모사업(200억 원)’ 등 지역 주요 현안을 해결하는 사업에 투입될 예정이다. 

지난해부터 국세 수입 감소에 따른 지방교부세 감액으로 인해 여러 지자체들의 재정 상황이 악화되고 있는 실정임에도 시는 역대 최대의 국·도비 예산을 확보하며, 지역 사회 발전을 견인할 수 있는 소중한 기회를 마련했다. 

이응우 계룡시장은 “역대 최대규모의 정부 예산 확보는 지역발전을 바라는 4만 7000여 계룡시민의 염원과 500여 공직자의 열정이 더해진 결과”로 생각한다면서 “민선8기 공약 이행 및 현안 사업의 원활한 추진을 위해 지속적으로 정부 예산 확보 등에 행정력을 집중하겠다”고 강조했다.
