충남 공주시가 나래원 화장장 리모델링과 사무동 신축 공사를 하면서 위험물 저장소 관리 소홀로 시민 안전에 심각한 위험을 끼치고 있다는 지적이다.

공주시 나래원은 지난해 5월 26일부터 덕청건설과 대승종합건설이 시공사로 선정돼 나래원 화장장 리모델링 공사와 회전교차로 1곳, 수목장 3개소 등 시설 확충 공사를 진행 중이다.

해당 공사는 오는 10월 14일까지 완료될 예정이다.

문제는  공사 현장에서 각종 폐건축자재와 위험물들이 제대로 관리되지 않고 방치되면서 시민 안전과 환경에 심각한 영향을 끼치고 있어 안전불감증이 도를 넘어선것 아니냐는 지적이다.

특히 위험물 저장소에는 화재에 노출될 수 있는 위험물들이 관리되지 않은 채 각종 쓰레기와 함께 방치돼 있어 심각성을 더하고 있다.

마을주민 A 씨는 "공사장 안전 관리와 위험물 저장소 관리는 시민의 안전과 직결된 중요한 문제인 만큼 공주시의 신속한 대응과 철저한 관리 감독이 시급하다"고 말했다.

이에 공주시 관계자는 "시민들의 안전을 최우선으로 고려해 필요한 모든 조치를 취할 것"이라고 밝혔다.
