세종시가 최근 나성동과 도담동 등 중심상업구역을 대상으로 특별 단속을 벌여 불법 숙박 의심업소 31곳을 적발하고 업소를 운영한 6명을 입건, 검찰에 송치했다고 25일 밝혔다.

시에 따르면 이번 특별 단속은 최근 미신고 숙박업으로 인한 소음과 흡연, 쓰레기 문제 등 각종 민원이 지속적으로 제기됨에 따라 이뤄졌다.

민생사법경찰팀은 지난 2월 26일부터 공유숙박 플랫폼(에어비앤비 등)에 등록된 숙박업소 대상으로 중점 단속, 수사를 실시했다.

단속 결과 시는 불법 숙박영업 행위를 한 것으로 의심되는 업소 31곳과 업소 운영자 6명을 적발했다.

이들은 오피스텔 객실을 임차해 침구류, 세면도구, 취사도구 등을 갖추고 숙박비, 청소비, 수수료 등의 명목으로 1박당 6만 5,000원에서 8만 5,000원의 요금을 받은 혐의다.

특히 이번에 적발된 운영자들은 1인이 3개소에서 최대 12개소까지 오피스텔을 임차해 미신고 숙박 영업을 한 혐의를 받고 있다.

시는 적발된 6명을 대전지방검찰청에 송치할 예정으로, 혐의가 입증되면 공중위생관리법에 따라 2년 이하의 징역 또는 2,000만 원 이하의 벌금을 받게 된다.

이와 함께 시는 영업소 폐쇄 및 불법 소득 세금추징 등을 관련기관·부서에 행정처분을 의뢰할 계획이다.

조수창 시민안전실장은 “시민의 위생과 안전을 위협하거나 탈세 우려가 있는 불법숙박 영업행위가 근절될 수 있도록 지속적으로 단속을 강화하겠다”면서 “시민들께서도 시 누리집 시민의 창과 민원콜센터를 통한 적극적인 제보를 바란다”고 말했다.
