농어촌에 이어 도시지역에서도 빈집 증가로 인한 도시미관 저해와 사고 발생 등으로 빈집활용에 대한 고심이 깊어지고 있는 가운데 대전시가 원도심 지역의 빈집과 공터를 소공원(동네공원)으로 조성할 계획을 밝혔다.

시범사업지는 대학교 학생과 버스정류장 이용자, 지역주민이 많이 오가는 곳임에도 오랫동안 고물상으로 이용되어 소음과 미관을 저해한다는 민원이 많았던 장소다.

대전시는 올해 1월 설계를 시작해 유동 인구, 주변 여건, 이용자 예측 등을 통해 수립한 계획을 지역주민에게 설명하고 의견을 반영해 4월 중 최종 계획을 확정할 예정이다.
