대전시가 3일 충남대학교 제19대 총장을 역임한 이진숙 교수를 대전광역시 제3대 총괄건축가로 위촉했다고 밝혔다.

앞서 대전시는 2020년부터 대전시의 건축·도시·디자인 관련 정책 및 주요 사업에 대한 총괄 조정·자문 역할을 담당하는 총괄건축가 제도를 운영 중이다. 

제3대 총괄건축가에 위촉된 이진숙 교수는 충남대학교에서 학사, 석사 취득 후 일본 도쿄공업대에서 박사를 취득했으며, 1989년부터는 충남대학교 교수로 재직하면서 대통령 직속 국가건축정책위원회 위원, 국토교통부 중앙도시계획위원회 위원 등 다양한 이력을 쌓았다. 

2020년에 제19대 충남대학교 총장으로 취임하여 올해 2월에 4년의 임기를 마쳤으며, 현재는 충남대 스마트시티건축공학과 교수로 후학양성에 힘쓰고 있다. 

이진숙 총괄건축가는 앞으로 2년간 대전시 건축․도시 디자인 관련 정책 수립에 대한 자문과 주요 공공건축물 및 공간환경사업의 기획, 기본설계에 대한 총괄 조정 등의 역할을 수행하게 되며, 건축정책 관련 대전시 의사 결정기구인 건축정책위원회의 당연직 위원장도 함께 맡게 된다.

Daejeon City appoints Lee Jin-sook, former president of Chungnam National University, as the ‘3rd architect’

Daejeon City announced on the 3rd that it had appointed Professor Lee Jin-sook, who served as the 19th president of Chungnam National University, as the 3rd general architect of Daejeon Metropolitan City.

Since 1989, she has been a professor at Chungnam National University, a member of the Presidential National Architectural Policy Committee, and a member of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Central Urban Planning. He has a diverse career, including as a committee member.

In 2020, she was inaugurated as the 19th president of Chungnam National University. She completed her four-year term in February of this year. Currently, she is working on nurturing younger students as a professor in the Smart City Architectural Engineering Department at Chungnam National University.

Over the next two years, Chief Architect Lee Jin-sook will play the role of advising on the establishment of policies related to architecture and urban design of Daejeon City, planning major public buildings and spatial environment projects, and overall coordination of basic designs, and will serve as the decision-making body of Daejeon City regarding architectural policy.
