자살률 증가에 따라 자살예방에 대한 중요성이 강조되고 있는 가운데 대전 서구가 자살예방을 위해 생명존중 안심마을 운영에 나선다.

이를 위해 서구는 생명존중 안심마을 참여를 희망하는 행정동 및 기관(단체) 신청 접수에 나섰다고 2일 밝혔다.

생명존중 안심마을은 읍·면·동을 기본단위로 보건의료, 교육, 복지, 지역사회, 유통 판매, 공공서비스 6개 영역에서 과학적으로 검증된 자살 예방 사업인 고위험군 발굴·개입·연계 ,자살 예방 인식개선 캠페인 ,생명 지킴이 교육 ,자살 고위험군 맞춤형 서비스 지원 ,자살 위험 수단 등 자살 예방 환경을 조성하는 사업이다.

해당 사업은 지난해 12월 5일 정부가 발표한 ‘정신건강정책 혁신방안’에 따른 것으로 지역사회 자살률 감소를 위해 개별적으로 추진되던 자살 예방 사업이 읍·면·동 단위의 사업으로 추진된다.

서구는 올해 관내 행정동의 30%에 해당하는 8개 동을 선정할 예정이며 2026년까지 전체 동으로 확대할 계획이다.
