탑정호 관광단지 조성에 행정력을 집중하고 있는 충남 논산시가 탑정호복합문화휴양단지 조성사업의 민간투자 유치를 위한 우선협상대상자를 선정했다고 27일 밝혔다. 

앞서 탑정호복합문화휴양단지 조성은 민간투자자 컨소시엄이 결성해 500실 규모의 콘도미니엄과 1만 1000여 평의 워터파크 등을 2200여 평의 컨벤션센터, 창년 창업 공간 조성 등의 사업계획서를 지난달 논산시에 제출했다.

논산시는 평가위원회를 구성해 엄격한 심의를 실사를 거쳐 우선협상대상자를 선정했다.

투자비용은 3100억 규모다.  그러나 시는 업체 보호 등을 이유로 우선협상자를 공개하지 않았다.

이 사업 대상지는 산림보호구역 지정 등으로 사업 추진에 막대한 지장이 있을 것으로 예상했다.

하지만 백성현 시장 부임 이후 산림청과 협의를 통해 지난해 4월 산림보호구역이 해제돼 사업 추진의 기틀을 마련했다.

논산시는 앞으로 민간투자자와의 협상을 통해 세부사업을 확정하고 업무협약을 체결한 뒤 이 사업을 추진하기로 했다.

또한, 사업 추진의 효율성과 신속성을 위해 탑정호 복합문화 휴양단지 조성사업 추진단(TF)을 구성해 실행력을 높일 예정이다.

백성현 시장은 "지역의 오랜 숙원사업의 첫 단추가 어렵게 끼워진 만큼 탑정호가 중부권 최고의 관광 중심지로 도약하도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.
