세종시가 29일 제2차 의정비심의위원회 회의를 열고 올해부터 2026년까지 시의원에게 지급되는 의정활동비를 월 150만 원에서 월 200만 원으로 인상하는 안을 의결했다고 밝혔다.

이번 인상은 지난해 12월 지방자치법 시행령 개정으로 광역 지방의회 의원의 의정활동비 지급 범위가 월 150만 원에서 월 200만 원 이내로 상향 조정된 데 따른 것이다.

앞서 시는 지난 5일 제1차 회의에서 기준금액을 결정했으며, 22일에는 공청회를 열어 기준금액에 대한 찬반 발표와 시민 의견을 청취한 바 있다.

세종시 의정비심의위는 의정활동비 현실화를 통한 안정적인 의정활동 지원 등 관련 법령의 개정 취지와 20년간 의정활동비 동결 등을 고려해 의정활동비를 인상하기로 하고 시와 시의회에 통보할 계획이다.

최종 의정활동비 인상 결정은 시의회의 조례 개정으로 확정되며 개정된 금액은 올해 1월부터 소급 적용해 지급된다.
