재선 도전이 예상됐던 더불어민주당 대전 중구 황운하 국회의원 오는 4월 실시하는 총선 도전에 나서지 않기로 했다. 

황 의원은 26일 기자회견문을 통해 민주당이 위기라고 말하면서 “국민은 윤석열 정권 심판을 위해 단결하라 요구하는데, 민주당은 파열음을 내고 있다”며 민주당의 현 상황을 지적하고 “누군가는 희생하는 모습을 보일 때”라면서 “ 제가 기꺼이 희생양이 되겠다”는 말로 총선 불출마를 선언했다.

당의 단합과 더 큰 승리를 위해 민주당 대전 중구 국회의원 재선 도전을 여기서 멈추기로 했다고 밝힌 황 의원은 “저는 윤석열 검찰이 조작한 울산사건으로 1심에서 유죄 판결을 받았습니다. 보복기소도 억울했지만 법원이 잘못된 기소를 바로잡아 줄 것이라는 기대를 저버린 점은 큰 충격이었다”며 “하지만 잘못된 1심 판결이 제 공천 결정을 늦추는 사유가 된 것은 더 큰 상처였다”는 말로 당에 대한 서운함을 내보였다.

자신에 대한 사법리스크와 관련 무죄에 자신있다고 밝힌 황 의원은 "저의 희생이 위기의 민주당을 구해내고 윤석열 검찰독재 정권심판의 밑거름이 된다면 기꺼이 그 길을 선택하겠다고 결심했다"고 밝혔다.

불출마 결정과 관련해 황 의원은 "검찰개혁의 선봉에 서서 가장 강하게 싸워야 할 사람이 물러서면 결코 안된다는 당원과 지지자들의 목소리를 외면하기 어려웠다"고 말하고 "민주주의 가치를 수호하기 위한 신성한 제단에 희생양이 되기로 결심했다"고 심경을 전했다. 

황 의원은 "이제 저의 결단으로 당 지도부가 부담을 덜어내고, 당이 단합하는 모습을 보이고, 더 많은 민주시민이 윤석열 정권 심판에 힘을 모을 수 있기만을 소망한다"고 말하고 이번 불출마 결정이 당의 결정이 아니라 본인의 결정 이라는 점을 분명히 했다.

이날 황 의원은 "저는 35년의 공직 생활 동안 철저하게 비주류로 살아오며 스스로 험난한 길을 헤쳐 왔다"면서 "오늘 저는 잠시 가던 길을 멈추지만 검찰개혁 완수를 향한 저의 행군은 계속될 것"이라고 밝혔다.

한편 더불어민주당 공관위는 황 의원이 불출마를 선언한 대전 중구 지역을 전략지역으로 분류했다.
