도심항공교통(UAM) 지역시범사업 대응을 위한 ‘충청권 초광역 UAM 실무협의체’ 첫 번째 회의가 22일 세종시 지방자치회관에서 열렸다.

이번 회의는 지난해 10월 25일 체결된 ‘충청권 초광역 UAM 업무협약’ 후속 조치로 마련됐다.

도심항공교통(UAM)은 친환경·저소음·수직이착륙 기술을 기반으로 도심에서 사람과 화물을 안전하고 편리하게 운송하는 최첨단 미래교통수단이다.

이날 회의는 이승원 세종특별자치시 경제부시장 주재로 충청권 4개 시도(대전광역시, 세종특별자치시, 충청북도, 충청남도), K-UAM드림팀 컨소시엄(SK텔레콤·한국공항공사·한화시스템·티맵모빌리티), 행정중심복합도시건설청 등 관계기관이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

이들 기관은 국토부 UAM 지역시범사업 공동대응 용역에 대한 협의, 충청권 UAM 생태계 구축에 필요한 행·재정적 지원 방안 등을 중점적으로 논의했다.

특히 충청권이 국토 중심에 위치해 전국 어디서나 접근성이 높고 타 지역 노선 확장이 용이한 최적의 UAM 시범사업 대상지라는 점에서 민간사업자와 공감대를 형성했다.

이승원 경제부시장은 “오늘 회의는 지난 충청권 초광역 UAM 업무협약 이후 처음으로 모여 사업을 함께 논의하는 뜻깊은 자리였다”며 “국내 최고의 기술력을 자랑하는 K-UAM 드림팀과 충청권, 행복청이 합심해 국토부 UAM 지역시범사업을 적극적으로 준비할 것”이라고 말했다.

충청권 4개 시도는 국토부가 향후 UAM 지역시범사업 범위를 수도권에서 비수도권으로 확대 추진할 예정임을 밝힘에 따라 충청권 도심항공교통 사업의 성공을 위해 공동 대응 중이다.
