오태근 충남예총 회장이 대한민국 예술인들의 총본산인 한국예총(한국예술문화단체총연합회) 회장에 도전한다.

현직 지역예총 도지회장이 한국예총 회장에 출마하는 것은 오 회장이 처음이다.

오 회장은 오는 28일 서울 목동 방송회관에서 실시되는 제29대 한국예총 회장 선거에 입후보를 마쳤다고 19일 밝혔다.

오 회장은 출마의 변을 통해 “한국예총이 시대 변화에 뒤처져 지리멸렬 상태”라며 “900억원대에 이르는 친문학적 부채와 불법사옥 매각 논란 등 예총 존립을 위협받아 발전 담론은 기대 조차 할 수 없는 지경”이라고 진단했다.

이어 “전 세계에 K-한류가 확산되고 있는 대한민국 위상과는 달리 한국예총의 반목과 갈등으로 인해 예술인들은 창작과 표현의 자유마저 위협받고, 국가정책을 만드는 일에서도 정부로부터 신뢰있는 조직으로 인정받지 못하는 현실”이라고 우려를 나타냈다.

그는 “방만한 경영과 무능으로 도탄에 빠진 한국예총을 혁신하고, 미래 한국예총의 성장을 이끌기 위해 출사표를 던졌다”고 밝혔다.

오 회장은 △자산 매각을 통한 안정적인 재무기반 조성 △조직 내 회계절차 간소화와 예술 보조금 특별법 제정 △원로 예술인을 위한 지역 예술원제 도입 △전국 권역별 예술특구 지정 △K-ART 확산 글로벌 네크워크 구축 △예술인 연금제 및 추모공원 마련 등을 주요 공약으로 내놨다.

공주 출신인 오 회장은 전국연극제 집행위원장과 한국 연극협회이사장, 전국체전 개·폐막식 총감독을 역임하고, 현재 충남예총회장(3선)과 국제실크로드 문화동맹 한국본부 이사장을 겸임하고 있다.

18일에는 한국연극협회 대의원과 주요 임원들이 서울 대학로에 모여 “한국예총 100년의 미래를 책임질 적임자”라며 오 회장 지지 선언을 했다.

이번 선거에는 오 회장 외에 미술·음악 분야에서 1명씩 출마해 총 3명이 맞붙는다.
