대전시가 장애인 등 교통약자 이동권 지원을 위해 장애물 없는 교통 환경을 조성한다.

이를 위해 대전시는 장애인·고령자·임산부 등 교통약자 이동 편의 증진을 위해 2024년 교통약자 이동 편의 증진 시행계획을 수립하고 교통약자 특별교통수단 확충 등 18개 사업을 본격 추진한다고 8일 밝혔다.

대전시에 따르면 지난해 말 기준 대전지역 교통약자는  46만 835명으로 전년 대비 4709명(1.03%) 증가했으며 대전시 인구의 31.9%를 차지한다.

교통약자 구성비율은 고령자 53.1%, 어린이 29.8%, 장애인 15.5%, 임산부 1.6% 순이며 전년에 비해 장애인, 임산부, 어린이는 감소했지만, 고령자는 증가했다.

대전시는 올해 특별교통수단 29대(신규 20, 대체 9), 저상버스 164대(신규 46, 대체 118) 도입 등 교통약자의 이동 수단을 확충해 교통약자 이동 편의 증진에 나선다.
