대전지역에서 '인공지능AI 시범유치원'이 운영된다.

시범유치원으로  운영되는 유치원은 대전 서구 큰마을아파트단지 내에 위치한 경성유치원(원감 김혜숙)으로 경성유치원은 대전 최초로 ‘인공지능AI 시범유치원’의 시범 운영을 마치고 2024년부터 본격 운영에 들어간다는 계획이다.

19일 경성유치원에 따르면, “급변하는 디지털 사회에서 유아교육 현장에 있는 우리는 디지털에 대한 양면성을 접하고 있다”며 “아이들에게 온라인매체와의 거리를 되도록 두게 하면서도 동시에 아이들은 일상생활에서 쉽게 스마트기기를 접하고 있어 우리는 자녀가 스마트기기와 가까워질까 염려스럽기도 하지만 동시에 다른 한편으로는 매일 새로운 디지털 사회에 뒤떨어질까 걱정하는 딜레마 속에서 살고 있다”고 현실을 직시했다.

경성유치원은 “대부분의 유치원이 유·초 연계 교육을 통해 코딩교육에 많은 관심을 보이고 있고 이런 디지털 사회 속에서 대전 최초로 유아들에게 인공지능 AI(Artificial Intelligence) 수업을 실시하고자 하는 것이 경성유치원의 방침”이라며 “‘유아기’는 ‘인성교육의 최적기’ 이면서, 동시에 ‘디지털 소양교육의 최적기’이기도 하기 때문에 경성유치원이 가르치는 인공지능 AI 수업은 처음부터 일반 코딩교육과 차별화를 두고 있다”고 강조했다.

1기는 15명으로 시작했지만, 점차 학부모와 유아들의 인식도 바뀌고 무엇보다 아이들이 무척 기다리는 특성화 수업이 되어, 2기와 3기에는 각각 약 30명 정도로 처음보다 2배로 인원이 늘었다.
