조승래 국회의원(더불어민주당. 대전 유성구갑)이 대표발의한 '대덕특구 조성 50주년 기념 연구개발특구 지원 촉구 결의안'이 9일, 국회 본회의를 통과했다고 조 의원이 밝혔다. 

조 의원이 대표발의하고, 여·야의원 50명이 함께 참여한 이번 결의안은 조성 50주년을 맞은 대덕특구에 정부와 언론, 시민사회 등의 관심을 촉구하면서 대덕특구 및 전국의 연구개발특구에 대한 정부와 지자체의 지원을 촉구하는 내용을 담았다. 

국회 역시 연구개발특구에 적극적인 지원을 하기 위해 초당적 협력을 하겠다고 다짐하며, 대덕특구 지정 고시일인 11월 20일을 대덕특구 공식 출범일로 지정하는데 뜻을 같이했다. 

앞서 국회 과학기술정보방송통신위원회는 지난 24일, 대덕특구가 위치한 대전에서 진행된 현장 국감 날, 해당 결의안을 통과시킨 바 있다. 

당시 조승래 의원은 제안설명을 하면서“최근 R&D 예산 삭감으로 연구자들의 분위기가 크게 가라앉아 있다”며 “이번 결의안을 통해 연구자들의 사기가 진작되고, 대한민국 과학기술 발전의 상징인 대덕특구 50주년이 더욱 큰 의미를 갖게 되길 바란다”고 말했다. 

한편, 조승래 의원은 정부의 R&D 예산 삭감에 반발하며 국회 예산결산특별위원회 위원으로서 꼭 필요한 R&D 예산을 증액하겠다고 밝혀왔다.
