대전경찰청이 이륜차(오토바이)를 포함한 일반 차량의 교통법규 위반을 단속하는 후면 무인교통단속카메라를 시범운영한다고 밝혔다. 

설치 장소는 대전시 서구 둔산동 공작네거리(문정4→공작4)와 서구 관저동 느리울네거리(건양대병원4→가수원4), 어린이보호구역 등 총 2개소이며, 11월 10일부터 3개월간 시범운영(계도) 기간을 거쳐 2월 10일부터 단속에 들어갈 예정이다.

대전경찰청은 대전시(교통정책과)와 함께 이륜차 사고 예방, 난폭운전, 신호 위반 등 교통단속 사각지대 불법행위 근절과 교통사고 예방을 위해 후면 무인교통단속장비 설치를 추진하였다. 

새로 도입된 후면 무인교통단속장비는 인공지능 기반 영상분석 기술을 이용하여 통행하는 모든 차량(사륜차·이륜차)의 후면번호판을 인식할 수 있어 이륜차의 교통법규 위반행위(신호·과속)도 단속이 가능하다. 

대전경찰청은 운영 효과를 분석하여 후면 무인교통단속장비 설치를 점진적으로 확대해 나갈 계획이다.
