세종시가 이응다리에 자율주행 로봇을 투입해 시설물 안내와 주.야간 순찰에 활용한다.

세종시는 이응다리를 이용하는 시민의 안전을 도모하기 위해 미국 보스턴다이내믹스사가 개발한 사족보행 인공지능(AI) 자율주행로봇 ‘스팟(SPOT)’을 지자체 최초로 순찰에 투입한다고 20일 밝혔다.

스팟은 미국 보스턴다이내믹스사에서 출시한 세계 최고 수준의 인공지능 기반의 순찰 로봇으로, 장애물을 감지하고 회피하는 자율주행 기능과 원격 운영, 자동충전 기능을 보유하고 있다.

국내 민간 영역에서는 스팟을 활용한 작업자 관리, 위험지역 순찰, 시설물 점검 등이 이뤄지고 있으나, 지자체 차원에서 안전순찰에 투입하는 것은 이번이 처음이다.

이번에 투입되는 스팟은 이응다리 운영 관련 안내, 주야간 24시간 자율순찰 및 탑재 폐쇄회로텔레비전(CCTV)을 이용해서 인공지능(AI) 기능을 기반으로 사람 쓰러짐, 화재 감지 기능을 수행한다. 

특히 시는 스팟을 통해 확보한 영상을 시 전체를 관제하고 있는 도시통합정보센터에서 모니터링하고, 사고 감지 시 112, 119 등 유관기관과 연계해 각종 사고 및 범죄에 공동 대응해 나갈 계획이다.

또한, 세종축제 기간에는 축제장에 로봇이 순찰하면서 춤, 포토존 운영 등 즐길거리를 제공하고, 자율주행 로봇 기능 시연을 통해 스마트시티 세종의 이미지를 알리는 데도 활용된다.

시는 본격적인 순찰로봇 투입에 앞서 이날 이응다리에서 시연회를 열고 자율주행 로봇 운영에 따른 사전 현장점검 및 로봇(스팟) 기능, 운영방안, 이응다리 순찰을 시연했다.

이번 사업은 시가 국토교통부의 국비 지원을 받아 2020년부터 추진하고 있는 세종 국가시범도시 생활·헬스케어·안전 공공부문 스마트 혁신기술 위수탁 협약 사업의 일환으로 추진된다.
