대전시가 대청호 여수로 댐 인근에 ’대청호 천년의 숲‘ 을 조성해 관광자원으로 활용한다.

이를 위해 대전시는 20일 산림청 기후대응 도시숲 조성 공모사업에 선정돼‘대청호 천년(千年)의 숲’ 조성사업을 위한 국비 40억 원을 확보했다고 밝혔다. 

대전시는 산림청의 서류 및 현장 평가, 현지 적합성은 물론 사업추진 의지와 관계기관 협력관계, 사업효과 등이 높게 평가돼 전국에서 가장 큰 규모인 8.0ha에 국비를 지원받게 됐다.

대청호 천년의 숲 조성은 천혜의 자연경관을 갖춘 대덕구 미호동 대청댐 여수로 유휴지(환경부 소관)에 대규모 은행나무숲을 조성해 친환경 생태복원으로 기후변화 대응 및 탄소중립을 실현하고 전국적인 관광명소로 조성될 예정이다. 

산림청 공모 선정에 따라 대전시는 대청호 여수로 유휴지 8.0ha에 2년간(2024년 4.0ha, 2025년 4.0ha) 대규모 탄소저장 숲을 조성한다.

탄소저장 숲에는 은행나무 가로수 이식목 등을 활용한 테마숲, 대규모 꽃단지, 산책로, 전망대, 쉼터, 잔디광장, 주차장 등이 들어선다. 

‘대청호 천년의 숲’조성은 올해 하반기 예산편성 과정 등을 거친 후 내년 상반기에 실시설계용역, 관계기관 협의, 행위허가 등 행정절차를 이행하여 하반기부터 사업에 착공한다.
