대전 중구가 민원담당 공무원 보호를 위해 적극 대응에 나선다.

이를 위해 중구는 민원담당 공무원의 악성 민원 대응을 위해 법률지원을 강화한다고 밝혔다. 

최근 공무원연금공단 자료에 따르면 2018~2022년 재직기간 5년 미만의 공무원 퇴사자는 2만8천934명으로, 지난해에만 무려 1만3천32명이 퇴사하여 2019년 대비 72.6%가 증가했다. 

이렇듯 소위 MZ공무원이라 불리는 젊은 세대 공무원의 퇴사율이 급격히 증가한 사유 중 하나는 악성 민원에 따른 업무 스트레스가 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다.

이에, 중구는 지난해 4월부터 악성 민원으로 피해를 입은 공무원이 고소·고발을 하는 경우 변호사 선임 및 소송비용 지원 등의 법률지원을 제도화하고 있다.

올해 8월에는 민원담당 공무원 등의 보호 및 지원계획을 수립하여 악성 민원에 대해서는 기관 차원의 강력한 법적 대응이 가능하도록 전담부서(법무평가팀)를 지정하고 민원응대 상황에서 발생하는 폭언, 폭행 등 불법행위에 대하여 고소·고발, 손해배상청구 등 행정기관 차원의 법적조치를 통해 엄정 대처할 계획이다. 

이 밖에도 사고 발생 시 담당 공무원을 보호할 수 있는 한국지방재정공제회 공제사업도 적극 활용할 예정이다.
