충남 내포신도시 인구가 올해 증가세를 보이면서 3만 5천 명을 눈앞에 두고 있다.

내포신도시 인구 증가는 지난해 하반기부터 아파트 입주 물량이 늘고, 종합병원 조기 개원과 수도권 공공기관 유치 기대감이 높아지며 내포 거주 인구가 증가하고 있는 것이 큰 원인으로 분석되고 있다.

14일 충남도에 따르면, 지난달 말 기준 내포신도시 인구는 7월 말 3만 3684명에 비해 545명 증가한 3만 4229명으로 집계됐다.

출범 첫 해인 2012년 말 내포신도시 인구는 509명에서 2015년 말 1만 950명, 2016년 말 2만 162명으로 급증했다.

이후 2017년부터 5년여 동안 2만 명대를 유지하며 완만한 상승세를 보이다 지난해 7∼10월 5개 아파트 입주가 진행, 같은 해 10월 3만 338명으로 3만 명을 돌파했다.

올해 들어서는 3만 1703명으로 출발해 지난달까지 2526명이 증가, 월 평균 315.75명 씩 늘었다.

지난달 말 내포신도시 인구를 행정구역별로 보면, 홍북읍(신경리) 2만 5970명, 삽교읍(목리) 8259명으로 나타났다.

성별로는 여성 1만 7177명(50.2%), 남성 1만 7052명(49.8%)으로 여성이 약간 많다.
