오는 15일부터 대전시 거주 70세 이상 어르신들은 시내버스 이용시 무료로 이용하게 된다.

대전시는 13일 브리핑을 통해, 이장우 대전시장의 민선 8기 공약사업인‘만 70세 이상 버스비 무료화’를 1년여의 준비 끝에 15일부터 시행한다고 발표했다.

앞서 어르신들의 버스  무임승차 지원을 위해 대전시는 무임교통카드를 지난 8월 16일부터 발급을 시작했고, 9월 11일 기준으로 대상자 15만 2천 34명 중 9만 4천 289명(62.02%)이 신청했다.

대전시는 지난해 보건복지부와 사회보장제도 신설 협의를 거쳤고, 올해 2월 ‘대전광역시 어르신 무임교통 지원 조례’를 제정했으며, 지난 6월에는 제1회 추경예산에서 시스템 구축 및 어르신 교통비 지원을 위한 사업비 37억 원을 확보했다.

무임교통카드는 만 70세 생일이 지난 어르신이면 언제든지 신청이 가능하다. 신청방법은 하나은행을 직접 방문하거나 모바일로 할 수 있다.

어르신 무임교통카드는 대전시 면허를 받고 운행하는 시내버스, 마을버스, 간선급행버스(B1)를 횟수 제한 없이 이용할 수 있다.

다만, 무임교통카드(실물카드만 가능)를 이용할 때 승·하차 시 꼭 태그를 해야 한다. 승하차 태그를 하면 일부 노선에서 추가 요금이 발생해도 시에서 지원하지만, 승하차 태그를 하지 않아서 발생하는 추가 요금은 어르신이 부담해야 한다.
