충남 아산시와 8년째 자매결연 중인 말레이시아 페탈링자야시 방문단이 지난 8일부터 10일까지 아산시를 방문해 양도시간 우의를 다졌다. 

지난 8일 아산시를 방문한 모하마드 아잔 엠디 아미르 시장 등 16명으로 구성된 페탈링자야시 방문단은 온양민속박물관, 현충사, 외암마을, 은행나무길, 환경과학공원 등 아산의 주요 명소를 견학했다. 

방문단은 9일에는 아산시청을 찾아 박경귀 아산시장, 국·소장들과 함께 교류 협력 회의를 하고 자매결연도시로서 돈독한 우정을 유지할 것을 다짐했다. 

이 자리에서 박경귀 시장은 “페탈링자야시는 2015년부터 자매도시로 지내면서 다양한 교류를 하고 있다. 올해는 페탈링자야시 직원 두 명을 아산시청으로 파견해 근무하기도 했다”며 “국제적인 문화예술 부분에서는 아산시가 배울 점도 많은 것 같다. 앞으로도 서로 발전할 수 있는 교류의 기회를 넓혀나가길 바란다”고 밝혔다.

이에 모하마드 페탈링자야 시장은 “아산시의 깨끗한 시내의 모습을 보며 빠르게 발전하는 도시라는 인상을 받았다. 파견 나갔던 두 직원은 더 머무르고 싶다고 할 정도로 배운 게 많았다고 했다”면서 “자매결연도시로 지내며 저희가 아산시로부터 배운 점이 더 많은 것 같다”고 화답했다고 아산시가 전했다.
