올해 19회를 맞는 천안흥타령춤축제 개막이 한 달 앞으로 다가온 가운데 이번 축제는 ‘도전과 창조정신이 어우러진 춤’을 주제로 10월 5일부터 9일까지 천안종합운동장과 천안시 일원에서 펼쳐진다.

천안종합운동장에는 흥타령극장(주무대)를 포함한 4가지 특별 무대와 기념 조형물, 포토존, 체험·홍보부스 존이 설치될 예정이다.

메인 행사인 전국춤경연대회는 국내 최고의 춤꾼들이 참가해 6개 분야(일반·청소년·흥타령·스트릿·대학무용·댄스컬부)에서 경연을 펼친다. 특히 올해부터는 일반부 대상 상금이 기존 1000만 원에서 2500만 원으로 2.5배 상향되고‘흥타령부’를 추가로 운영한다. 

올해 국제춤대회는 코로나19로 참여가 어려웠던 지난해 대비 10개 팀이 늘어나 17개국 17개 팀이 참여하고, 세계 우수 해외무용단의 다채로운 퍼포먼스와 각국의 전통춤을 관람할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

이외 축제장에서는 댄스컬 능소전 공연, 프린지 페스티벌, 춤을 주제로 한 기획공연, 각종 체험행사, 먹을거리 장터, 중소기업 우수제품 홍보관과 농특산물한마당 큰잔치 등 다양한 즐길 거리가 제공될 예정이다.

천안시는 이번 축제 관람객의 편의를 위한 셔틀버스 편성과 축제장 화장실, 수유실, 안내소, 매점 등도 확대 운영된다고 밝혔다.
